The open door crib service
The sun had set, the weather outside was frightful, but remembering the importance of Christ at Christmas people from all over Merthyr set aside the hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations at 4pm on Christmas Eve and descended upon Christ Church for our chaotic crib service.
During our time together we followed the story of the angels during the nativity, especially one angel named George, who discovered something of Gods forgiveness and his plans to open the way into his kingdom.
“where is George’s story in the bible” you ask? um…..let me go and get my bible…from my car……[the sound of an engine fades away into the distance].
I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all those who took part, David Blandford for leading the music, and Steve Booth for making the technology do its bit. And to all those who came along, it was wonderful to have you with us!
Here are some of our wonderful actors and actresses;
of course, not everything went quite according to plan. Jesus was born appeared a little prematurely, the straw had to be replaced with shredded paper due to some new furry friends, and we had a hard time keeping our miniature Jesus in his own manger, but it all added to the fun. I for one am already looking forward to our messy church starting in February where the chaos will continue!
