A Warm Space

Update Summer 2023 - we have now decided to pause our warm spaces and instead have an hour together following our prayer meeting at 11am on Tuesdays for a chat and games.

Many people in the community are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, energy bills are high, food prices have skyrocketed; everything just seems to be going up and up at the moment. With winter approaching, people are worried about how they are going to get through. Perhaps you are one of them? We at Christ Church Cyfarthfa can’t fix the economic problems, but we are determined to do what we can to help.

How can we help you?

We would like to offer you a Warm Space in the hall of Christ Church Cyfarthfa, available every Tuesday from 10:30 -16:00 where you can come, sit and be warm, without having to worry about turning your heating on and pushing your energy bill even higher. This will be a cosy space where you can spend the day, reading, doing crosswords, studying, or chatting to our volunteers. Whoever you are, you will be given a warm welcome. We will also be offering free teas, coffees, hot chocolate, and even a free soup lunch.

This isn’t just there for those who are desperate. This space is for everyone, because most of us are feeling the pinch. Also, we all just need to get out of our homes and spend time around other people sometimes and if this can help you in some small way then we would love for you to take advantage!

We are also in the process of setting up drop-in sessions with Christians Against Poverty who will be able to offer free professional financial advice to help you get out of debt, budget, make your money go further.

If you want to come, but are unable to get to us, then please do let us know, we might not be able to get you to us, but we would love to explore how we might support you.

How can you get involved?

·         Come!

·         Spread the word!

·         Do you have any spare coats or blankets which we could give to people who are in need? If so please drop them off at the hall, or let us know so we can come and collect.

·         Do you have a few hours to spare on a regular basis? We would love to be open every day, but we just don’t have the numbers to make that happen. With your help, perhaps we could! Please let us know if you would like to help.

·         Do you represent an organisation we could link up with? We would love to hear from you.

We are here for you,

Marc Walford
